Considering adding a furry family member? If you like the idea of playing catch with your new best friend, then consider a retriever.

Retrievers are the most popular dogs in America. The name comes from the dog's ability to fetch. Common types of retrievers include Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, according to Local Voices Blogger Tyson Youts in a recent post.

"They are trainable, happy and friendly," Youts wrote. "Unfortunately, because there are so many of them, there are a lot of them in shelters and rescues too...the  most common reason they are left at shelters is their size."
