Grant Applications For Homeowners Impacted By COVID-19
The city of St. Petersburg has opened funding to residents who have fallen behind on mortgage and utility payments due to COVID-19.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Grants are available for St. Petersburg homeowners suffering financial hardships from COVID-19 impacts, the city of St. Pete said.
These grants will go to residents who are behind on mortgage, gas, electric, water, trash, sewer and homeowner association fees becasue of losing a job as a result of COVID-19. The Mortgage & Utility Payment Assistance Grant Program was formerly called the Coronavirus Relief Fund, and applications were accepted until Nov. 13.
As of Jan. 2, applications for the funds opened to St. Petersburg residents.

According to the city, these are the qualifications:
- The total household income cannot exceed 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the St. Petersburg/Tampa/Clearwater geographic area as adjusted for household size. (For more information about AMI, click here.)
- Those in a forbearance program (when the mortgage service or lender allows a temporarily paused or reduced mortgage payment) with their mortgage lender are not eligible for the Mortgage & Utility Payment Assistance Grant Program and should not apply.
The property must be:

- Located within the St. Petersburg municipal boundaries
- Occupied as the principal homestead residence of the homeowner
