Have a Say in the Future of Rio Vista Park

1. The city of St. Petersburg will host a public forum to provide an update on the conceptual site plan for the proposed park at the Rio Vista Elementary School site, located in the northeastern section of the city. According to the city, the forum will be held at Holy Family Church 200 78th Ave. NE, on Monday, Oct. 8, beginning at 7 p.m. Interested citizens are invited to participate in the discussion and provide input to the city. City staff members will be available to discuss the potential project plans.

2. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced Tuesday that its year-old Black Bass Management Plan is producing remarkable results. Implementation of the plan last summer was expected to create significant ecological, economic and social benefits for Florida. More than 7,500 anglers provided input, as did a technical assistance group representing fishing-related businesses, university experts, professional anglers, outdoor media and fishing guides. 3. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is searching for a woman seen riding and handling a manatee, an endangered species.  Deputies responded to a call from park rangers at Fort De Soto that a woman was riding a manatee in the waters north of the Gulf Pier. The woman was unable to be found when deputies arrived, but witnesses were able to provide descriptions and photos of the woman, which also were posted to Facebook.

4. On Saturday, October 6, St Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market will open for its 10th season. Held weekly on Saturdaus from October through May from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, the market is located at the Al Lang Field parking lot (also known as Progress Energy Park) on the corner of First Ave. S. and First St. along the waterfront
