Have Breakfast with the Mayor Today
Breakfast with Foster, RNC Signups, Garden Cafe, Florida Panthers and Patch Newsletters are five things you need to know today.

1. Everyone is invited to join Mayor Foster for breakfast and conversation on Wednesday, Aug. 22, when Breakfast With the Mayor' touches down at The Hangar Restaurant, 540 First St. S.E. The Hangar will open for breakfast one hour early, at 7 a.m., for the popular breakfast program. Residents are invited to support the local economy with items from The Hangar's breakfast menu while sharing thoughts and ideas one-on-one with the mayor.
2. In preparation for the Republican National Convention, those with homes or businesses within the event zone (roughly 5th Ave. N. to 7th Ave. S., from 20th St. to the waterfront) may register online to receive automated notifications and update. Register online here.
3. On Tuesday, . According to St. Petersburg Preservation, the building was completed in 1923 and was first used as a Baptist Church. It became the Garden Cafeteria in the 30s and was used as such until the 70s when it became the piano exchange.

4. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has launched a new website that makes it easy for citizens who spot Florida panthers to share the information online. The website enables the public to report when and where they have seen a panther or its tracks and upload photos of the sighting. As recently as the 1970s, the Florida panther was close to disappearing, with as few as 20 animals in the wild. Now there are an estimated 100 to 160 adults and sub-adults. Sub-adults are panthers that have left their mother but are not yet breeding age, a FWC news release said.
