Help Families In Need At Green Bench And Beer Kulture Toy Drive

ST. PETERSBURG, FL —Beer Kulture and Green Bench Brewing have partnered this holiday season for a toy drive that will help children wake up to gifts on Christmas.

Since this has been a difficult year for many families due to the coronavirus pandemic, you might know of a St. Petersburg family that has experienced hard times. You can nominate them to be adopted through this toy drive. Nominations opened Monday.

"We are so excited for this event,” Latiesha Cook, president and CEO of Beer Kulture said. “One of the most important aspects of what we do at Beer Kulture is forging strong relationships with our community and helping one another. During a time when so many people are facing hardships, we wanted to find a way to help families during the holiday season.”

The toy drive will begin with an event on Dec. 13 at Green Bench, 1133 Baum Ave N, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and include live jazz from the Katara Trio.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be hosted outside, masks will be required, and strict social distancing guidelines will be adhered to, a news release said.

Collections will begin at the event, and the deadline to drop off toys, adop a family, or make a monetary donation is Dec. 19.

The monetary donations will go toward buying toys, Cook said.

Beer Kulture and Green Bench will gift wrap all donations and then drop them off to families in need.

Other local businesses involved in the cause include Grind + Cycle, that will be holding a cycling class to raise funds for the event, and Eckerd Connects, a non-profit organization dedicated to family care, workforce development, and aid will be gifting Hope Trees to encourage donors to choose ‘angels’ from the trees at Green Bench that represent families in need.
