Hometown Heroes Need To Live Near Work In Affordable Housing
Assistance of up to $35,000 for first-time, income-qualified home buyers, allowing them to purchase a primary residence in the community

St. Petersburg Sunshine Rotarians will hear about a program for “Hometown Heroes 2025,” the official title of the Florida Hometown Heroes program, which makes home ownership affordable for first-time home buyers working full-time at a Florida-based business.
Concerns about where the workforce lives have been a growing issue, as many cannot afford to live in the downtown Saint Petersburg area near their jobs.
This program provides down payment and closing cost assistance of up to $35,000 for first-time, income-qualified home buyers, allowing them to purchase a primary residence in the community where they work and live. Qualified workers include: healthcare workers, school staff members, public safety employees, court employees, childcare workers, first responders, service members of the US military or military reserves, US Coast Guard personnel, or veterans employed by a Florida-based employer. All of these can be eligible for the program. More will be heard about this program at the meeting held September 23rd at the Saint Pete Yacht Club, 1 Central Ave, at 7:30 AM.
