Hurricane Ian Devastation Photos: Storm Leaves Millions Without Power

Hurricane Ian ravaged parts of Florida, leaving catastrophic flooding and knocking out power for over 2 million people.

ST. PETERSBURG — The wake of Hurricane Ian is a grim one for the books. One of the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the United States, Hurricane Ian saw winds extending outward up to 415 miles, while dumping rain over much of Florida.

Authorities over at the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office have already confirmed at least one storm related death, that of a 72-year-old man who fell into a canal in Deltona while trying to drain his pool. AP also reported that two died in Cuba after the storm passed through as well. Gov. Ron DeSantis even said that based off the amount of 911 calls, the death toll is estimated to be in the hundreds.

President Biden issued a disaster declaration earlier today as the U.S. Coast Guard began rescues on southwest Florida’s barrier islands.
