Major DUI Checkpoint in St. Pete Tonight

All drivers traveling southbound on 34th Street North tonight will be diverted into a DUI check point in the parking lot of the Publix Supermarket at 1700 34th St. N. 

According to St. Petersburg Police, the DUI checkpoint is from 10:30 p.m. Friday night until 4 a.m. Saturday. 

Several local law enforcement agencies will assist SPPD during the operation, including the Florida Highway Patrol, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Gulfport Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department and the Belleair Police Department.

Earlier this week, the Florida Department of Transportation announced a month-long DUI initiative to target impaired drivers throughout the state.
