St. Pete Shooting Victim Identified

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Monday night in the Rajax Meat Market parking lot.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a Monday night shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.

According to the agency, Emmanuel Isaiah Sims was shot in the parking lot of the Rajax Meat Market, 2327 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. S., around 6:35 p.m. Jan. 23. Detectives say that Sims and two other people were in vehicle in the parking lot when they made contact with a person known to Sims.

"That person fired at the vehicle and wounded Sims," an email from the police department said. "Fire rescue responded but Sims was pronounced dead at the scene, shortly before 7 p.m."

Police say the other two people in the vehicle were not injured.

No suspect information is available at this time. Further details are not yet available.
