Man Accused Of Filming A Child Using The Bathroom: Sheriff

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 65-year-old St. Petersburg man is accused of watching pornography with a child under 12, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release said.

William Smith was arrested Sunday on charges of video voyeurism, failure to protect a minor and tampering with physical evidence, according to investigators. The victim's father found out that Smith was watching porn with his child and confronted him, detectives said.

The parent told deputies he saw the suspect's computer and found a video of the victim partially nude using Smith's bathroom, authorities said.

Law enforcement officials said Smith admitted to setting up a manually-activated hidden camera to video the minor using the restroom. Smith is accused of deleting the videos when he learned deputies were on their way to speak to him.

Detectives said Smith admitted to watching pornography with the victim five times on his computer. Deputies arrested Smith at his residence, 3663 58th Avenue North, #724, and took him to the Pinellas County Jail.
