Man Dies After Being Hit By SUV While Crossing Street: St. Pete Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An 83-year-old man died after being hit by an SUV while walking across Sunshine Skyway Lane South Friday morning, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

Officers responded to the 7200 block just before 8 a.m.

They found the victim, Danilo Tamayo, was hit by the SUV while crossing the road. He was brought to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he died, police said.

The SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Lanes in both directions briefly shut down following the crash.
