UPDATE: Man ID'd in Deadly St. Pete House Fire

A man was found dead at the scene of the one-story house fire early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Updated, 2:28 p.m.:

Detectives have identified the victim in Wednesday morning's deadly St. Petersburg home fire as 71-year-old Charles James Seay.

Seay lived alone in the home at 1310 33rd St. S., officials said.

Detectives say they have found "no suspicious issues thus far" and that the cause of the fire is still investigation. They are also still awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine Seay's cause of death.

A St. Petersburg man was found dead at the scene of a house fire early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze at a one-story home at 131 33rd St. S. around 1:25 a.m. to find heavy smoke.

Rescue personnel found the victim — a 72-year-old man whose identity has not yet been released, according to TampaBay.com — on the kitchen floor. He was brought outside, where paramedics pronounced him dead.

Authorities said they believed the man was sleeping when the fire broke out, TampaBay.com reports.

The fire has been ruled accidental and the investigation is ongoing.

The home did not have a smoke alarm, according to Lt. Joel S. Granata.
