ST. PETE BEACH, FL — A man in St. Pete Beach faces after using a laser light to illuminate a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, authorities said.

Dann Wagner, 61, of Ohio was charged with one count of felony misuse of a laser lighting device, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release.

While the helicopter was in the air on March 27, just before 11 p.m., helping deputies with an aggravated assault call in the area of 6850 Beach Plaza, flight deputies noticed a green laser pointed directly at it multiple times.

They were able to locate Wagner, who was on the balcony of a condo on Bahia Del Mar Circle, the sheriff's office said.

He was arrested and booked into Pinellas County Jail.
