Man Accused Of Deadly St. Petersburg Shooting: Police

The St. Petersburg Police Department said a fight between two men led to the shooting death.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Pete police arrested James A. Chin, 26, on first degree murder charges for allegedly stabbing and shooting 29-year-old Mitchel Collins Wednesday.

Chin is accused of stabbing Collins during a fight that took place at Collins' home, 3535 Fourth Avenue South. When the victim left the apartment, Chin followed him and allegedly shot him.

Collins was pronounced dead at a local hospital, investigators said.

Detectives with the St. Petersburg Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday evening in St. Pete, a news release said.

According to investigators, a man was fatally shot before 5:28 p.m. in the 3500 and 3600 block of 4th Avenue South.

The victim died at a local hospital, authorities said.
