Mayor Foster Addresses Residents on Impending Storm
Our Emergency Operations Center is open and we will continue to provide updates throughout the storm event.

Here is a statment Mayor Bill Foster issues this afternoon to residents about Tropical Storm Isaac:
"The City of St. Petersburg and the entire Tampa Bay area are now under a
Tropical Storm watch. We are in constant communication with the Governor's
Office, the National Hurricane Center and the Pinellas County Emergency
Management Office, and continue to monitor the storm. Based on current
information, we expect the weather in St. Petersburg to deteriorate sometime
near sunrise on Monday and have Tropical Storm conditions until Tuesday
morning. Sandbags are available to city residents at both the Frank W. Pierce
Recreation Center and Mangrove Bay Golf Course both today and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
"At this time, we are preparing for the Sunday evening Republican National
Convention Welcome Party to take place as scheduled at Tropicana Field. RNC
officials are also monitoring the storm and will make decisions on the
remaining convention events.
"For us, the health and safety of our residents and visitors are paramount. Our
Emergency Operations Center is open and we will continue to provide updates
throughout the storm event. Depending upon tide levels and potential storm
surge, we are prepared to limit access to low lying neighborhoods within St.
Petersburg. Please monitor local media as well as the city's website and
Facebook page for the latest information."
