Motorcyclist Dies After I-275 Crash, Authorities Say

A St. Petersburg man died after a Friday evening crash while exiting I-275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jacob Sommerkamp, 31, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and hit a barrier wall while he was exiting I-275  to 118th Avenue North. Sommerkamp and his passenger Michael Valee were both ejected from the motorcycle, authorities report.

Sommerkamp died from his injuries at Bayfront Medical Center. Valee, 32, also of St. Petersburg was listed in serious condition at Bayfront, according to the FHP release.
