National Southern Fast-Food Chain Known For Hand-Breaded Chicken Expands In FL
A Southern fast-food chain known for hand-breaded chicken is expanding in FL with its first Tampa Bay-area store in decades, a report said.
PINELLAS PARK, FL — Bojangles, a national Southern fast-food chain known for its hand-breaded fried chicken, continues its Florida expansion with plans for its first restaurant in the Tampa Bay area.
The new location will open at 7930 U.S. Highway 19 N. in Pinellas Park, as first reported by St. Pete Rising.
The 2,414-square-foot space, which is located on an outparcel of a plaza anchored by Ashley Furniture, was previously home to a Burger King.

The Bojangles chain had several locations in Pinellas County in the 1980s and last operated stores in the Tampa Bay area in the 1990s, St. Pete Rising said.

The North Carolina-born chain was founded in 1977 and specializes in breakfast and Southern-style chicken, biscuits and tea, all made from scratch. Fans of the brand know its tagline, “It’s Bo time!”
Popular menu items include the hand-breaded Bo’s Chicken Biscuit and other biscuit breakfast sandwiches, as well as Bo’s Chicken Sandwich and Bo’s Chicken Tenders.
In addition to the Tampa Bay area and Orlando, the company also plans to expand into the following metro areas across the country, according to its website
- Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas
- Monroe-Eldorado, Louisiana
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Jackson, Mississippi
- New York City area (including New Jersey)
- Cleveland-Akron, Ohio
- Columbus, Ohio
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Austin, Texas
- Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
- Houston, Texas
- San Antonio, Texas
There are currently eight locations in Florida:
- Clermont
- Davenport
- Jacksonville
- Kissimmee (Poinciana)
- Ocala
- Sanford
- St. Augustine
- Tallahassee
