ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Talking about financial planning and making goals that align with that roadmap can be frustrating when you don't know where to begin.

Speaking to a financial advisor can be uncomfortable. However, there is a new book, "Squeeze the Juice," by Sarasota author Jennifer Lee, to guide you as you change your relationship with money. Lee, who has more than 27 years of experience financially counseling people who have sudden life changes such as divorce, new job, loss of a loved one, or adding a family member, told Patch her book is a way for readers to absorb some financial knowledge through the story.

"It's really just an introduction to me, and financial concepts to then hopefully stimulate the desire to have a deeper conversation," Lee said.

Lee was never a stranger to the finance world since her father worked in the industry in Baltimore, where she grew up. In her book, her love and adoration toward her father is felt by the stories she shares. One of her highlights as child was going with her dad to the office on Saturdays and doing simple tasks such as stapling papers or clipping papers.

Readers will likely feel connected to Lee's stories, and enjoy the wisdom her father shared. One of the best things her father did for their family after his terminal brain cancer diagnosis was write a love letter.

This wasn't just any love letter. He included advice he wanted to leave for his family and important information to pass down. The book also coaches readers on how to write that type of love letter to their family.

"'Squeeze the Juice' is something my father would say a lot," Lee said. "It's about making the most out of any situation, being in the moment. And your money."

Lee said a woman reached out to her once who was going through a rocky marriage and about to inherit an undisclosed amount of money. She had concerns and questions about what to do with that money so it would be responsibly used and work for her. Her husband was not a money-saver, rather he was a spender.

Lee helped her invest the money separately from the husband so she could still take her family on vacation every year, pay off her house and have an asset. The client's husband is now her ex-husband, and the woman has kept her assets.
