Hine, Long, Geier Lead In Pinellas School Board Races: Primary Results 2024
Voters rejected school board candidates backed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in the Pinellas County primary election, unofficial totals show.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Incumbents Laura Hine and Eileen M. Long bested Gov. Ron DeSantis-backed challengers in two Pinellas County School Board races Tuesday night, according to unofficial results.
Moms for Liberty-aligned candidates, all endorsed by DeSantis, were outpaced in all three school board races up for grabs in the primary elections, according to Florida Politics.

Current board chair Hine, seeking re-election in District 1, earned about 107,000 votes, while her challenger, Danielle Marolf received just over 47,000 votes, according to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections website.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Hine wrote in a post to her Instagram page Tuesday evening.
In District 4, Long earned about 24,000 votes compared to her challenger, Erika Picard, who received just over 20,000. All precincts have reported their results.
In District 5, with all precincts reporting, Stacy Geier has received about 12,500 votes. Meanwhile, Katie Blaxberg earned nearly 12,000 votes and Brade DeCorte earned nearly 9,500 votes.
Voters decided on the Democratic and Republican nominees for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representative races.
A number of local races were considered, as well. Members of both parties chose their candidates in Pinellas County Commission races, while all voters in District 1, 4 and 5 decided on school board members. St. Petersburg voters also considered city council races.
