Pinellas County Has Top Choice for Superintendent
A contract likely will be extended to Dr. Michael Grego.

A veteran educator and former Florida schools chief is the Pinellas County School District's choice for Superintendent.
Dr. Michael Grego, an associate professor at the University of Central Florida, has emerged as the school board's top candidate for the job.
Nothing is official until the school board takes a vote, but members today discussed the next steps for hiring Grego, who will need to be offered a contract.

Grego is a former Superintendent for the Osceola County School District. He also was Florida’s Interim Chancellor of K-12 Education.
Board members plan to hold a public “meet and greet” with Grego on Sept. 10, and, if that goes well, they will start to negotiate a contract on Sept. 11.
