Pinellas Pork BBQ Cook-Off and Rodeo Returns for Third Year

Confederate Railroad will also perform in the annual Pinellas Park event.

PINELLAS PARK, FL – For people who can enjoy barbecue until the cows come home, Pinellas Park is hosting the perfect event.

The City of Pinellas Park’s Public Works Department is hosting its third annual Pinellas Pork BBQ Cook-Off and Rodeo is set for Saturday, Oct. 1 from noon to 10 p.m. at England Brothers Park, 5010 81st Ave. N. Admission to the event is free.

The sights and smells of barbecue pork will fill the air from the start of the event, as local amateur competitors will have their entries judged as the event begins at noon. Contestants will be preparing pork butts, ribs or both. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded for both categories.

Live bluegrass performers will also take the stage at England Brothers Park, with national recording artists Confederate Railroad will headline the entertainment later in the evening.

The full rodeo, complete with bull riding, starts at 4 p.m. Other highlights of the event includes children’s rides, bounce houses, a bubble runner, and more. The evening caps off with a fireworks show.

Proceeds from the Pinellas Pork BBQ Cook Off & Rodeo will benefit People Helping People, a local organization that helps elderly, disabled or incapacitated residents on fixed incomes by helping with their yardwork or minor repairs to their property.

The full schedule for the event is:

  • Noon to 1 p.m.: Bay Bluegrass and barbecue judging
  • 1:30 to 1:45 p.m.: Opening ceremony and barbecue awards
  • 1:45 to 3:15 p.m.: One Night Rodeo
  • 3:45 to 5:15 p.m.: Clemons Road
  • 4 p.m.: Rodeo
  • 5:30: Raffle for YETI cooler
  • 5:45 to 7:15 p.m.: Pirate Flag
  • 7:15 to 7:45: Dave McKay Dedication
  • 8 to 9:30 p.m.: Confederate Railroad
  • 9:45: Fireworks show

Lawn chairs are welcome but no coolers are allowed in the park.
