Car In Downtown St. Pete Fatal Hit-And-Run Found By Detectives
Detectives in St. Petersburg want to identify the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian after they discovered their car Wednesday night.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Police, Wednesday night, found the car accused of killing a man in a fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday in St. Petersburg, according to a police news release.
Detectives said they still need information about the identity of the driver. Fifty-eight-year-old Hollis Heatherly crossed First Avenue North at 16th Street North at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Pete, authorities said. At the same time, a small black sports car drove westbound on First Avenue North and hit him as he walked near the intersection, and sped off. The victim died at the location three days before his 59th birthday, Oct. 6.
Heatherly's grandson also came into the world Oct. 6., three days following his grandfather's death. WFTS reported.
