Poll: Mayor, Red Light Cameras Approval Ratings Drop

Approval ratings for St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster came in at 48.1 percent in the latest StPetePolls survey. That's down from 54.3 percent in December.

According to the poll, the mayor's highest approval rating came in at 61.4 percent in May 2012.

1319 registered voters in St. Petersburg were questioned in this latest poll. They were asked about who they would vote for in a hypothetical match-up for this year's race for mayor.

When asked, "Who would you vote for: Leslie Curran, Jeff Danner, Bill Foster or Rick Kriseman?"

The poll reflected the following answers:

• Curran: 17.7%
• Danner: 5.9%
• Foster: 29.5%
• Kriseman: 16.1%
• Undecided: 30.7%

Among other questions in this poll, voters were asked about buses at Williams Park and red light cameras in St. Pete.

When asked, "Do you think that the downtown bus hub should be moved away from Williams park?"

40.2 percent said yes, 47 percent answered no with 12.8 percent unsure.

When asked, "Do you think the city installing red light cameras was a good thing?"

39.4% responded yes with 60.6 percent responding no.

According to the poll, the red light cameras highest approval rating came in at 53.5 percent in Feb 2012.

The telephone survey of registered voters within the City of St Petersburg was conducted on March 16, 2013.
