Portion of Beach Drive to Close Today
Beach Drive Closure, New USF St. Pete Student Center, Mayor's Night Out, Class for Expecting Moms and Patch Newsletters are five things you need to know today.

1. A portion of Beach Drive will temporarily close today as city crews transplant a palm tree. According to a city news release, street parking on the west side of Beach Drive will be off limits from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Second Avenue N. to the alley (in front of Bella Brava to Bruce Waters Jewelers). The sidewalk will remain open throughout the day with complete access to area businesses.
2. Thursday afternoon USF St. Petersburg will unveil its new student center. According to with USF St. Pete, the $21 million, 81,000 sq. ft. facility was partly financed with a special student fee passed by the Florida Legislature and supported by students who saw a need for a central gathering place at USFSP. The unveiling will be at 4:30 p.m. today and it is open to the public.
3. Residents are invited to pull up a chair and share what's on their mind when City Hall travels to the neighborhoods for Mayor's Night Out' on Thursday, September 6. Mayor Foster and city staff will be available to speak with residents one-on-one at Campbell Park Center, 601 14th St. S., beginning at 6 p.m.

4. All Children’s Hospital will offer a free community class for expectant moms on Tuesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the All Children’s Education and Conference Center, 701 4th Street S. According to a news release, this 90-minute classis facilitated by a registered dietician and culinary expert who will explain the importance of prenatal nutrition and walk participants through fun cooking demonstrations. All expectant moms are welcome and will receive an information binder, cookbook, yoga mat and journal. Please call 727-767-6923to register or email fit4allkids@allkids.org
