Publix, Target, Walmart On FL West Coast Closing Early: Hurricane Ian

Publix stores are closing ahead of Hurricane Ian. What's the status of Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, CVS stores in the Tampa region?

FLORIDA — Residents who still need non-perishable foods, batteries and other storm supplies only have a few hours until more than 200 Publix stores on Florida's west coast close until Friday. Target, Walmart, Whole Foods and CVS stores are also closing early because of Hurricane Ian.

The Publix storm status page shows 282 Publix stores on the west coast of Florida& from Homosassa Springs south to Naples will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and plan to reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.

This includes all Publix stores in Sarasota, Manatee, Lee, Charlotte, Collier Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, as well as along the I-4 corridor.

Walmart: The chain has a real-time store closure map on its website. As of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 23 stores had closed in the Venice-Fort Myers-Cape Coral areas.

Target: Tampa area stores will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday, St. Petersburg stores will close at 6 p.m. and Sarasota area stores will close at 8 p.m., the Miami Herald reported. Stores in all three areas will stay closed Wednesday and Thursday and plan to reopen Friday. Store hours could change, so check the Target website.

Whole Foods Market: Stores in Tampa, Sarasota, Clearwater and Carrollwood closed Tuesday morning and are scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

CVS: Tampa area stores are closing at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Check ahead with your store before going out.
