Rays Blown Away By Red Sox Who Tie ALDS Series 1-1
Tampa Bay Rays will try again Sunday in Boston at Fenway Park during game 3 after being blown away Friday night by the Red Sox, 14-6.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL —Back-to-back home runs by the Boston Red Sox in the third inning with additional home runs and weak starting pitches from Rays helped Sox tie the series 1-1 in game 2 of the American League Division Series, 14-6.
Starting Rays rookie pitcher, Shane Baz, allowed first baseman Kyle Schwarber a walk with a single RBI hit by short stop Xander Bogaerts in the first inning. A second run scored by center fielder Kike Hernandez off a sharp line to centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier.
High hopes graced the Rays at the bottom of the first when designated hitter Nelson Cruz, short stop Wander Franco and third baseman Yandy Diaz scored from first baseman Jordan Luplow's grand slam blasted into left field off left-hand pitcher Chris Sale, 5 — 2. Third inning, Boston came close to tying the game when back — to — back home runs were hit by Bogaerts and left fielder Alex Verdugo. Collin Mchugh replaced Baz on the mound after Bogaert's scoring hit. He couldn't prevent home run hits either when the first batter, Verdugo, he faced hit a home run.

Rays lead 5 — 4 at start of fifth inning until Boston scored four runs with a solo homer hit by Kike Hernandez and J.D. Martinez with a triple home run hit to center field. Sixth inning, first baseman Ji — Man Choi hit a home run bringing the score 6 — 8. By top of eighth, Sox were up to 11 on the board following Rafael Devers two-score home run hit to center field.
No runs scored for Tampa Bay in bottom of eighth as Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe struck out swinging. Diaz's pop-fly caught out center field.

Final inning, a total 14 runs for Sox, six for Rays.
Boston tied their own postseason franchise record in game 2 by hitting five home runs.
Saturday is a rest day for both teams. Game 3 of American League Division Series is at Fenway Park Sunday, Oct. 10. It will be broadcast on Major League Baseball Network.
