Sandbags Available To St. Petersburg Residents

As Floridians eye the development of Tropical Storm Ian, St. Petersburg is offering sandbags to residents.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — With all eyes on Tropical Storm Ian, as Floridians wait to see exactly where it might land in the Sunshine State, the city of St. Petersburg is making sandbags available to residents.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has already declared a state of emergency for 24 counties in the path of the storm.

Early reports show that it could develop into a major Category 3 hurricane.

On Monday, from 8 a.m. until sundown, sandbags will be available at the following locations in St. Petersburg:

  • Lake Maggiore, 3601 Dr. MLK Jr. Street. S.
  • Northeast Park, 875 62nd Ave. NE
  • Northwest Pool, 2331 60th Street N.

The limit is 10 bags per household.

Sandbags are also available to city residents throughout the year at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building at 1744 9th Ave. N..
