Shelters Open for Pinellas Residents

Three shelters will open this afternoon, including two that serve people with special needs.

Three Pinellas County Shetlers will open at 4 today, in anticipation of worsening weather overnight from the approach of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The shelters that are:

  • : Special needs shelters for residents requiring oxygen or ambulatory assistance; 1920 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin.
  • : Open to general public; 1426  S MLK Jr. Ave, Clearwater.
  • P-TEC South: Special needs shelters for residents requiring oxygen or ambulatory assistance; 901 34th St. South, St. Petersburg.

The shelter for people who live in flood-prone areas. Winds of 20-30 mph are expected, with higher gusts with bands of rain. The weather is expected to last throughout the day and evening on Monday.
