St. Pete Man Dies in Car Crash
Police said 69-year-old Mike Douglas died from injuries sustained in the crash Monday at Bayfront Medical Center.

A St. Petersburg man is dead after police said another car hit 69-year-old Mike Douglas' car while he was attempting to make an illegal turn.
According to St. Petersburg Police, Tina Burns, 52, was driving a Dodge Durango in the eastbound median lane of Roosevelt Blvd. N. when Douglas drove his Toyota Corolla into her path from the other direction.
Douglas, police said, was exiting the Gateway Crossings shopping plaza and attempting to cross Roosevelt Boulevard North to enter Village Lakes Condominiums. The exit of Gateway Crossings is clearly marked with a "No Left Turn" sign and solid white lane markings, directing exiting traffic toward the east.

Burns attempted to stop, but police said she struck the driver's side of the Corolla. Both vehicles then slid across the westbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard
The accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. Monday.

Burns and Douglas were transported to Bayfront Medical Center. Burns suffered minor injuries, police said. Douglas was transported with life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:46 p.m.
