A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Monday night crash on 66th Street North.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a Monday night crash that left a motorcyclist dead and sent a woman to the hospital.

According to the agency, Patricia Stevenson, 61, of St. Petersburg was heading south on 66th Street North around 10:25 p.m. Dec. 5. Stevenson’s 2013 Jeep Wrangler was in the turn lane at 30th Avenue waiting to go eastbound.

Police say a 2002 Honda motorcycle driven by James V. Redner-Gilmartin of St. Petersburg was heading north on 66th Street at the time.

“Just prior to the intersection,” Redner-Gilmartin changed lanes into the middle lane and accelerated,” an email from police said. Stevenson, police said, did not see the motorcycle and made a turn into its path. The motorcycle struck the front of the jeep.

“Redner-Gilmartin, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene,” the agency said. Stevenson was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was later released.
