St. Pete Man Sentenced To Just Over 4 Years Dealing Drugs
Inside the defendant's car during the Jan. 26, 2020, investigation police found several drug substances, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man who served a prison sentence for distribution of cocaine prior to January 2019 has been sentenced again for a similar crime, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Cedric Tonesy Mount, was sentenced Thursday inside a Tampa courtroom to just more than four years — 33 months in federal prison for possessing with the intent to distribute controlled substances, and 24 months in prison for violating supervised release — Following his release from his first prison sentence served, Mount began a three-year term of supervised release Jan. 9, 2019, according to court documents. U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew also sentenced him to serve an additional six years of supervised release Thursday. The sentences will be served consecutively, court officials said.
Mount pleaded guilty June 2, almost a year-and-a-half after deputies with the St. Petersburg Police Department investigated Mount's vehicle when they received a tip he was possibly selling drugs near an apartment building. Jan. 26, 2020, someone yelled, "Look out! Police!" as the officers walked to the defendant's car. Mount was seen holding a small box with a plastic baggie sticking out of, investigators said. As the vehicle was searched, detectives found several plastic baggies containing crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl methamphetamine and marijuana, according a news release. Two scales and a gas mask that had been converted into a marijuana bong was also inside the vehicle.
