St. Pete Pier Makes Top 10 List Of USA Today's Best Attractions

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Pete Pier almost grabbed the top spot in USA Today's Best Attractions of 2020.

The Pier came in as no. 2 out of the 10 winners, USA Today reported Thursday. U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado, claimed number one. Voters favored the St. Pete attraction over the Classic Car Museum of St. Augustine, the only other Florida nominee in the competition. The car museum did not make the list of top 10.

Restaurants, a children's park, bars, art, markets, live music and beautiful views of the bay are part of the many features of the $87 million attraction that opened earlier in 2020.

The top 10 winners in the category Best New Attraction are as follows, USA reports:

3. The Forge: Lemont Quarries - Lemont, Illinois
4. Mississippi Aquarium - Gulfport, Mississippi
5. MassArt Art Museum - Boston
6. Planet Word - Washington, DC
7. Electric Playhouse - Albuquerque
8. National Native American Veterans Memorial - Washington, DC
9. National Museum of the United States Army - Fort Belvoir, Virginia
10. National Museum of Military Vehicles - Dubois, Wyoming
