ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg Police Department SUV was involved in a three-car crash early Thursday morning at First Avenue South and 28th Street South.

The crash occurred at 6:56 a.m., Yolanda Fernandez told Patch. The other vehicles involved was a pickup truck and a Mini Cooper. The officer and the driver of the truck were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, Fernandez said.

First Avenue South was closed for a few hours at 28th Street South for the investigation.
