ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg Winn-Dixie is one of the chain’s locations set to be converted into an Aldi grocery store, according to multiple reports.
The 46,048-square-foot Winn-Dixie at 3327 Dr. MLK Junior N. will undergo a $1.7 million renovation into an Aldi, St. Pete Rising said.
There are currently three Aldi locations in St. Petersburg, including one that opened earlier this year near Tyrone Square Mall in a space previously occupied by Hitchcock’s Green Market and, before that, Lucky’s Supermarket.

The acquisition affected about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
At the time the company announced the purchase, it said some Winn-Dixie and Harveys would become Aldi stores, while others would retain their original names.
Some other Florida stores planned for the conversation include locations in Panama City, Deltona, Pensacola and Lakeland, according to The Florida Times-Union.
Aldi revealed its $9 billion plan to add 800 stores across the country by 2028, according to a news release. This includes a combination of new stores and conversions.
About 50 stores will begin the conversion process later this year with most of them reopening as Aldi in 2025, the company said.
