Sundial To Host National Dog Day Celebration

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Sundial St. Petersburg will go to the dogs when it celebrates National Dog Day.

Four-legged friends and their humans are invited to National Dog Day festivities on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sundial, located at 153 Second Ave. N.

For people who are looking for a dog of their very own, Pinellas County Animal Services and the Humane Society of Pinellas will be on site with dogs in need of a home. Friends of Strays also will be on hand to talk about the animals they have for adoption.

The St. Pete Police Department will show the dog’s life with a K-9 demonstration at 6 p.m. The K-9 Unit will conduct obedience exercises, agility tests and a simulated criminal apprehension. Also, Southeastern Guild Dogs representatives will be on hand.

Singer-songwriter and multi-percussionist Jen Lowe will perform live music from 5 to 8 p.m. A newcomer to the St. Pete music scene, Lowe has played with artists like Jason Mraz and Ed Rowland of Collecive Soul. The NOMAD Art Bus will provide dog-themed arts and crafts for youngsters from 5 to 8 p.m.

All of the Sundial restaurants will celebrate “Yappy Hour” with specials from their weekday happy hour menus:

• FarmTable Kitchen: $4 draft beers and $7 well cocktails and featured wines on the patio
• Ruth’s Chris: $9 select cocktails, beer and wine on the patio from 5 to 7 p.m.
• Sea Salt: Half off beer, premium liquors and wines by the glass from 5 to 8 p.m.
• Locale Market: Free dog cookie with any purchase

Many of Sundial’s retail stores will have deals and promotions, including Ansley Z Style Co., Diamonds Direct Fine Jewelers, Florida Jean Company, John Craig Clothier, Jackie Z Style Co., Juxtapose Apparel & Studio, Swim ‘n Sport, Marilyn Monroe Glamour Room, Chico’s and Tommy Bahama.

Dogs can also receive star treatment with a photo shoot area in the courtyard complete with a backdrop and props.
