Support Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts: How To Donate In St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As Southwest Florida recovers from Hurricane Ian’s hit to the region last week, many in the St. Petersburg area might be wondering how they can help those in need of relief.

State officials are encouraging Floridians to make donations through the Florida Disaster Fund, which received more than $10 million in donations as of Monday afternoon, at www.FloridaDisasterFund.org or by texting DISASTER to 20222.

A number of local businesses, organizations and foundations in the St. Petersburg area are also raising funds for the area’s recovery or collecting supplies for those in need following the storm.

Junior League of St. Petersburg

The Junior League of St. Petersburg, 500 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N., will host a supply drive for Hurricane Ian relief Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

The following items are requested:

• clothing, new or gently used
• non-perishable food items
• water
• toiletries
• cleaning supplies
• bedding
• towels
• gift cards in small increments of $15 to $25 for Publix, Home Depot, Costco, Walmart or Target

Those who are unable to drop off goods the day of the event or would like to ship goods to organizes should email evpe@jlstpete.org.

St. Petersburg Shakespeare Festival

The St. Petersburg Shakespeare Festival will accept donations at free productions of “Twelfth Night: or What You Will” Friday through Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at Williams Park. All funds collected will benefit Fort Myers residents and theater companies affected by Hurricane Ian. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket.

St. Petersburg College

St. Petersburg College is collecting donations for those south of the Tampa Bay area who were affected by Hurricane Ian. Contributions can be dropped off at the following Titans Care Center locations:

• Tarpon Springs campus, Agora Building, Room 105
• Clearwater campus, LA Building, Room 188-A
• St. Petersburg Gibbs campus, SA Building, Room 125
• EpiCenter, Room 100 or front desk
• Downtown Center, front desk

The college is seeking the following items:

• toothpaste and toothbrushes
• paper towels
• baby diapers
• soap
• dry socks
• bleach and cleaning supplies
• hand wipes
• hairbrushes
• t-shirts in various sizes
• flashlights and extra batteries
• sunscreen
• feminine products
• dog and cat food
• propane

Every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., a truck will leave the SPC EpiCenter to bring donations to drop-off locations in affected areas.

Pinellas Community Foundation

The Pinellas Community Foundation has activated its Tampa Bay Resiliency Fund to provide assistance to local residents affected by Hurricane Ian. The fund is a collaboration of Allegany Franciscan Ministries, Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg, PCF and United Way Suncoast. Learn more and donate here.

St. Pete Girl Boss

St. Pete Girl Boss is accepting donated supplies for Fort Myers families daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 4921 71st Ave. N., Pinellas Park. The items will be brought to Lee County by trailer.

Donations can also be made online here to buy supplies for hygiene kits.

Dr. Larry Klein

Dentist Dr. Larry Klein is collecting items for hurricane relief at his office at 2000 5th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg.

Coconut Inn Pass-a-Grille, Betty Shop

In St. Pete Beach, Hurricane Ian relief donations can be dropped off at the Coconut Inn, 113 11th Ave., anytime, and Betty Shop, 6380 Gulf Blvd., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Items needed include:

• water
• non-perishable foods
• baby wipes and diapers
• baby formula
• paper products
• bug spray and sun block
• manual can openers
• plastic utensils
• trash bags
• cleaning supplies
• plastic sheets and tarps
• toothbrushes and toothpaste
• other personal hygiene items
• Clorox wipes
• hand sanitizer

Bark Life Market & More

The Bark Life Market location at 10720 N. Park Boulevard in Seminole is accepting donations of food and other pet supplies through Wednesday.

Bark Life offers a 20 percent discount for all purchases for this supply drive. State Rep. Linda Chaney will be at the shop Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tampa Bay Club Sport

Tampa Bay Club Sport is collecting cash donations as well as supplies for those affected by Hurricane Ian at The Rec Dec St. Pete, 380 105th Terrace NE, St. Petersburg, through Sunday.

Anyone who makes a donation will receive a free drink. Tampa Bay Club Sport will match all donations made and an anonymous player has pledged to match up to $500 in donations.

• nutrition bars
• bedding
