Three-Alarm Fire at St. Pete High School

St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at 4 a.m. at the high school. Crews are still on the scene now.

School is canceled today at St. Petersburg High School, as firefighters continue to put out a blaze that may be related to repairs being done overnight to the auditorium roof.

Flames shot through the roof of the three-story auditorium when fire and rescue workers arrived on the scene after 4 a.m. today. The school is at 2501 5th Ave. North.  fire. structurel.

Firefighters called for backups with a second and then a third alarm.

At midnight, firefighters were first called to the scene with a report of a fire. At the time, there were roofers working with a torch, making repairs. There was no fire at that time.
