SENIOR SOFTBALL
The Historic and Renowned “Kids and Kubs” Senior Softball Club will hold tryouts for the upcoming 96th season beginning October 30. Kids and Kubs (also known as the Three Quarter Century Softball Club) offers slow-pitch softball as an age-appropriate, healthy activity for seniors, including both men and women, aged 74 years and above.
A priority is player safety. Pitcher screens are required, and face masks are optional. Stealing bases and sliding are not permitted. Alternate bases at home plate and first base. Accommodations are made for physically challenged players, and a “short base” is provided for players with mobility issues.

The Three Quarter Century Softball Club was founded in 1930 and is the oldest continuously operating senior softball league in the United States.
You do not have to be a former superstar Minor League baseball player to join Kids & Kubs. While we have experienced players, we also have newcomers to the game. Teams (Kids, Kubs, Kats, and Kolts) play on a rotating basis—teams are selected to level out player skills.

The tryout sessions will allow interested persons to revisit their experience as recreational players and develop and test skills, including hitting drills, pitching, and catching. Tryouts take place at North Shore Park Field, 901 North Shore Blvd., next to the St. Petersburg Aquatic Center, weather permitting.
During September and October, pick-up games and batting practice are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 AM, until October 28. These are open to the public, and there is no age restriction. However, with the regular season starting time set for 9:30, only persons above the age of 74 are eligible for Club membership.
