ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Drivers from St. Petersburg and Bradenton were stuck in traffic for awhile Friday evening as they drove to their weekend destinations due to a tanker fire on the southbound side near the Skyway Bridge, and a two-car crash just on the opposite side blocking a northbound lane. Both vehicle incidents were eventually cleared, and traffic went back to normal. No injuries were reported.

Update: Traffic started to move slowly at about 7 p.m. after the Florida Highway Patrol opened one lane of travel on the southbound side. Drivers should still expect massive lingering delays.

Northbound lanes just opposite side of the earlier vehicle fire continued to be congested just after 7 p.m. due to a two-car crash blocking a left lane.
