Two suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money Tuesday morning from a Walgreens at 5767 38th Ave. N.

St. Petersburg Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a Walgreens at gunpoint around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Video surveillance showed, at about 3:18 a.m., two black male suspects in their 20's appearing to loiter outside of the store. They had t-shirts covering their faces when they first approached the store.

Police said it seems they decided not to enter the store, located at 5767 38th Ave. N, and walked back towards the camera, away from the store.  The second time they appeared on camera, they approached the store, again with t-shirts covering their faces, and then noticed a van pulling into the parking lot.

Surveillance video inside of the Walgreens captured the robbery in progress. One suspect was armed with a large caliber handgun.  Upon the pair entering the store, the unarmed suspect immediately jumped the counter and started looking through the shelves while the armed suspect confronted three employees and demanded they go to the front cash registers.

According to police, the suspects then had the victims remove the cash drawers and place the money in to a bag. The suspects then fled the store on foot carrying an undisclosed amount of money. A K9 tracked to the east, but lost the scent, a news release said.
