Window Film Is Not Hurricane Protection, AG Warns Consumers

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is warning Floridians that there is no evidence to back up claims that window film works as a hurricane shield.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is investigating several companies selling "window film" as protection against hurricane-force winds.

In her weekly email newsletter, Bondi said that consumers should be wary of claims some companies are making about the strength and durability of window films.

The Florida Building Commission has not approved window film as a form of hurricane protection, Bondi wrote, adding that "therefore, it cannot be advertised as offering hurricane protection."

With hurricane season starting Saturday, Bondi said that her office has entered into eight settlement agreements so far to resolve these alleged practices.
