Mayor Threatens to Fire 'Rude' Planning Board Members
Mayor David O. Archie says heckling of applicants from members of the volunteer Zoning and Planning Board discourages development in Tarpon Springs, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Tarpon Springs Mayor David O. Archie threatened to fire some members of the city's planning board after they were "disrespectful and rude" to applicants during meetings, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Archie said at Tuesday's City Commission meeting that the heckling from the volunteer members of the Planning and Zoning Board discourages development. According to the Times:
"That is disrespectful and rude," Archie said, calling (board member Peter) Dalacos by name. "This is not a threat, but it is a promise. If you're disrespectful of people coming before the city, you should not be representing the people of Tarpon Springs, plain and simple."
