Pinellas Residents Thank Tarpon Firefighters with Remembrance Photo-Shoot
The results from the photo-shoot offer a rare capture of history in the present.
Tarpon Springs firefighters were shown some love by two area residents when the driver pulled up sporting a memorialized Dodge Challenger while the passenger hoisted a camera.
Last year, Jay Uzzalinno of Citrus Park and Tyler Sontag of Dunedin toured the county and took photos at as many fire stations and with as many firefighters as time would allow. The photos were then distributed to each of the departments, free of charge.
, Uzzalinno said the photo-shoot was intended for one, simple reason: “basically just to say thank you.” He went on to say, “For doing what they do, for them to put on all that gear and jump into a fire. It’s our way of saying thank you.”
Uzzalinno, 44, had his car (a 2012 Dodge Challenger) custom wrapped with a design honoring the heroes of September 11. Sontag, 26, is a photographer who joined Uzzalinno on his journey through Pinellas.
The duo brought smiles and encouragement to departments around the bay area, including Station 69 in Tarpon Springs.
