Sen. Jack Latvala Curses Out Florida Reporter

A Florida Times-Union reporter who filed a public records request to Sen. Jack Latvala's office regarding his ethics reform proposal received a profanity-laced response from the Republican state senator. 

According to the Times-Union, Latvala told Times-Union reporter Matt Dixon he did not like, "[expletive deleted] requests that waste my [expletive deleted] time.”

The request, filed Feb. 20 by the Times-Union, was seeking backup documents related to the Senate’s ethics reform package. It included a request for documents housed in Latvala’s office because he is chairman of the Senate Ethics and Elections Committee, which authored the bill.

The Times-Union reported Latvala threatened to no longer speak to Dixon.

During a set of brief phone interviews, Latvala threatened to cut off access to the reporter who requested document related to the legislation.

“I can [expletive deleted] choose who I talk to, and those who file records requests like that are not on the top of my list,” Latvala said.
