Spongers Crowned Keswick Invitational Champs
Over the weekend, the Tarpon Springs High School volleyball squad defeated the St. Pete Green Devils to take home first place.

On Saturday, the Spongers from Tarpon Springs High School beat Indian Rocks Christian in a nail biting semifinal (15-13) before knocking out the Green Devils of St. Pete (27-25, 25-14) in the final of the Keswick Invitational volleyball tournament.
The team was crowned the champion of the 29th annual tournament.
Spongers head coach Patrick Sneed was pleasantly surprised with the tournament results, according to the Tampa Bay Times:
“I thought that we would do okay in pool play, but to play as well as we did against Indian Rocks was encouraging. I hoped we'd get to the finals, but to actually win it was nice,”
Tarpon High junior Ashlyn MacGregor was dubbed tournament MVP and played a vital role in the team’s weekend success.
