• Man charged in fatal overdose case set to be sentenced (cw34.com) — In Vero Beach, a man convicted of supplying drugs that led to a woman’s fatal fentanyl and cocaine overdose is set to be sentenced, according to an Indian River County judge. The case stems from a 2020 death investigated by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and involves an alleged drug dealer from West Palm Beach facing a first-degree murder charge by unlawful distribution.
   

• Wild Florida peacocks threatened by influx of more cars and people who harm them (tcpalm.com) — Peacocks roaming from Vero Beach down to Palm City are increasingly at risk as traffic and development grow along the Treasure Coast, especially on busy roads like U.S. 1. Volunteers in Fort Pierce, Rio and Port St. Lucie are urging newcomers to slow down, respect the long-established flocks, and avoid harming or trapping the birds as vacant land disappears.
   

• Rent collusion suit tossed vs manufactured home community operators (legalnewsline.com) — A Vero Beach resident is among several plaintiffs in a nationwide class-action lawsuit accusing major manufactured home community operators of colluding to raise lot rents, but a federal judge in Chicago has dismissed the case for now. The judge ruled the complaint didn’t show enough evidence of a price‑fixing conspiracy, though plaintiffs have until early January to refile with stronger allegations.
