• In Memory: Mary Lou Young, Age 96 (myrye.com) — Longtime Vero Beach resident Mary Lou Young, 96, has passed away, remembered for her involvement with the Vero Beach Yacht and Country Club, Sea Oats Garden Club, and McKee Gardens. Friends and family recall her storytelling, community service, and devotion to multi-generational friendships. A memorial service is planned for the spring. 
• Trump ESA changes could threaten Florida whales, manatees, sea turtles (tcpalm.com) — Florida conservation groups are warning that proposed Trump-era Endangered Species Act rule changes could weaken protections for manatees, sea turtles, and right whales that frequent waters off Vero Beach and the Treasure Coast. They argue the plan would let agencies prioritize economic impacts over science when listing species and designating critical habitat, potentially undermining recent gains in manatee survival and sea turtle nesting statewide.
