Cornerstone Students earn lifesaving skills with CPR Program

Equipping the next generation with hands on training

Cornerstone Prep students involved with Club Med recently received CPR certification upon completion of a 2 hour class instructed by Northside Hospital. They learned about emergency intervention for adults and children, why CPR is given and the lifesaving benefits of CPR. The training included procedures and instructions for using an AED (automated external defibrillator), as well as choking, seizures, allergic reactions and Stop the Bleed.

The students were introduced to Life Vac, which is available on the Cornerstone Prep campus. A LifeVac is a non-invasive, single-use device that can help clear an airway when someone is choking. It is designed to be used when other choking methods have failed. The students were also instructed on the locations of AEDs and First Aid kits on the school campus.

The students received "hands on" training for using tourniquets, Epi pens and demonstrated their knowledge of correct compression rate and depth.
