The Cobb County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Lake Acworth Drive and Ragsdale Road Thursday night just before 10:30 p.m.

According to investigators, it appears a person riding on a red Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Lake Acworth Drive approaching Ragsdale Road at the same time someone driving a gray Ford F250 truck towing a boat on a trailer was traveling down Lake Acworth in the opposite direction.

When the driver of the truck attempted to turn eastbound onto Ragsdale Road, he entered the path of the motorcycle. Despite both parties trying to avoid a collision, the motorcycle collided with the right rear of the truck, authorities said.
