Here are the top five stories today in and around Alpharetta-Milton:
- The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections approved nine precinct changes for today's Primary Election Runoff. Residents were sent postcards notifying them of the changes and providing other important runoff information. If you have additional questions, please click this link. - The Milton Municipal Election Feasibility Committee held its first meeting to investigate how the city might hold its own municipal elections. In the past, Milton has outsourced municipal election operations to Fulton County. The committee is investigating the benefits and costs of operating the election independently like neighboring municipalities such as Loganville and Eatonton. (Milton Herald)
- Fulton County's Rebecca Zhang was awarded Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2022. The award came with a $5,000 scholarship. Zhang showcased her talent in Ballet en Pointe to the panel of judges during the first night of the preliminary competition. (Northwest Georgia News)
- Milton's City Council considered a proposal to acquire seven acres of land for an active park in the southeastern area of the city. The Monday night agenda also included a proposal for a new restroom facility in Providence Park, possible appointments to the Trails Advisory Committee, and changing the city's special event permitting process. - An investigation by the Fulton County Police Department has uncovered surprising details in a May 25 homicide. According to the department, De'ja McCrary was lured to South Fulton's Camelot Condominiums at the request of her ex-boyfriend Colvin Lindsey. McCrary was allegedly supposed to fight Lindsey's new girlfriend at the complex. Lindsey shot and killed McCrary as she stepped out of her car. Aquala Barnes, Colvin Lindsey, and Teandra Brox are currently being held in the Fulton County Jail. (People)
